NIT JSR has been awarded a rank band of 101–150 by NIRF 2023 among the top Engineering institutes in India. Additionally, it has been ranked 27th in the Technical University in India category by The Week 2023. NIT Jamshedpur (National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur) is one of the top ranked engineering institutes in Jharkhand.

The National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur was earlier known as the Regional Institute of Technology. The institute was established in 1960 as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Bihar. NITJSR is given the status of Institute of National Importance. The deemed university is recognised by AICTE and MHRD. NIT JSR has 11 departments that offer various UG, PG, and PhD courses across Engineering, Science, and Humanities streams. More than 750 job offers were rolled out by over 250 companies that visited the institute campus. This year, the institute witnessed the participation of over 90 first-time recruiters. The average and highest package offered during NIT Jamshedpur placements in 2023 stood at INR 15.98 LPA and INR 83.40 LPA, respectively. Of all the branches NIT Jamshedpur CSE average package was the highest and the amount stood at INR 26.63 LPA.

Further, most students received packages between INR 10 LPA and INR 20 LPA. The overall placement rate stood at 98.87%. Among others, Adobe, Axis Bank, and Oracle were prominent companies that participated in NIT Jamshedpur placements 2023. According to a media report, the highest package offered during MTech placements 2023 was INR 11.70 LPA.

In addition to the above data, 458 offers were made during the 6-month internships in 2023, and 177 offers were bagged during NIT Jamshedpur summer internships in 2023. The CSE branch recorded the highest percentage of offers during 6-month internships. Alongside, ME and CSE recorded the highest percentage of offers during summer internships 2023.
