Maitreyi College is an all-women’s college and one of the affiliated colleges of the University of Delhi established in 1967 in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. Maitreyi College comes under the South Campus of DU. It is accredited by NAAC A ++ Grade. It carries the accolade of being a star college for its Science Departments by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Maitreyi College offers 31 UG courses and 3 PG courses in Arts, Commerce and Science in various specialisations with a highly qualified and experienced faculty. The admission to both UG and PG courses is carried out on the basis of the candidate’s performance in CUET. After qualifying in the entrance exam, candidates have to appear in the centralized DU CSAS process for seat allocation.

Maitreyi College has achieved the 36th position in India among private and government colleges according to the surveys conducted by the NIRF in the year 2023. There are 17 departments under the institute. The campus of Maitreyi College is huge and surrounded by lush greenery. Besides, the college also has large playgrounds and a newly constructed four-storey science block with fully equipped laboratories, lecture theatres, classrooms and faculty rooms. Maitreyi College also provides accommodation facilities. Apart from all these facilities, the college also organises extracurricular activities and achieves great success in the fields of sports, NSS, NCC and other cultural activities.

Maitreyi College Admission 

Maitreyi College admission to the UG and PG courses is based on scores obtained in the CUET examination. The admission process includes appearing for the CUET examination and then appearing in the CSAS seat allotment. Registrations for admission at the college start after CUET result declarations. Candidates must select Delhi University while filling out the CUET application can register themselves on the DU CSAS portal and choose their college and course preferences. The entire selection process is done via the DU CSAS portal for UG and PG courses in multiple rounds. The detailed Maitreyi College admission process is as follows:

Step 1: Appear for the Entrance Examination

Step 2: Registration on DU CSAS Portal and Filling of Courses and College Preferences

Candidates who qualify for the entrance examination must register on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) Portal of Delhi University for the seat allotment. Once the registration is done, candidates will be asked to fill college and course preferences.

Step 3: Seat Allocation

The seat allocation will be done in multiple rounds for all programs. Seats are allocated based on scores obtained in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) or other national-level tests, combination of college and program chosen, category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR) of the candidate, and availability of seats.

Step 4: Blocking of Seats and Final Admission

Candidates can check the seat allotment result by logging into Delhi University’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) dashboard. Upon acceptance of seat, the college will check eligibility, verify documents, and confirm admission after receiving the admission fees.

Maitreyi College Scholarships

Maitreyi College offers various scholarships and prizes to meritorious and needy students for financial assistance. Some of them are given below:

  • Delhi University Scholarships: In October every year, Delhi University holds a competitive examination for the award of All India Scholarship amounting to INR 250 per month tenable for 3 years only to the students of B.A.(H) and B.Sc.(H).
  • SC/ ST Scholarship: Maitreyi College offers scholarships for SC and ST candidates. These students are advised to get the scholarship application form from the Accounts Section in the college immediately after their admission and submit the same along with the required certificates.
  • Freeships: Maitreyi College offers freeships to students whose parental income does not exceed INR 8 Lakhs per year. The freeship forms open in September and this scheme is open for all categories.

Maitreyi College Campus

Maitreyi College has a beautiful campus surrounded by greenery. The campus of the institute is known for its gardens. The entire campus is wifi enabled. The college comprises three sections- the Main Building, the Old Science Block and the New Science Block. Some of the facilities have been briefly mentioned below:

  • Library: The Maitreyi College has a huge library which consists of a rich stock of 99,000 books and a seating capacity of 150 readers at a time. The library is fully computerised having an internet room with 20 computers. It has subscriptions to a wide range of print journals, periodicals, national and international magazines, and 23 leading national newspapers.
  • Enabling Unit: This unit was established for differently abled students and faculty of the college. This unit consists of numerous computers and notebooks with necessary software like NVDA, Hindi OCR, Lax Camera etc. that enables visually impaired users to carry out academic tasks independently.
  • Sports Facilities: Maitreyi College offers various indoor and outdoor sports facilities like a basketball court, football field, baseball field, etc. A multipurpose hall serves as an indoor sports hub accommodating activities such as Judo, Yoga, Powerlifting, and Chess. This spacious and well-ventilated hall is equipped with a synthetic mat suitable for Judo and Wrestling.
  • Other Facilities: The other main facilities of the college include a photocopy shop, canteen and bookshop for providing all these things at subsidized rates to the students. It also has a Mother Diary Kiosk and Girls Common Room.​

Maitreyi College has experienced and renowned faculty members. Some of the faculty members are trained in new Pedagogical Strategies involving innovative blended learning in the U.K. The college has 76 teaching faculty among which there are 41 associate professors and 52 assistant professors.
