Lady Doak College (LDC), the first women’s college in Madurai in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, was founded in 1948. It is named after Helen Doak, the associate founder. The college ranked 81st among the Top 100 Colleges of Southern India by popular newspaper The Hindu.

Lady Doak College Admission

The application form can be obtained at the college office. Last date for submission of application forms for each of the courses will be announced by the college during the commencement of the application period.

  • Filled out application form, along with the necessary documents attached, should be submitted at the college office.
  • Information regarding the application fee and the list of documents required for verification will be made available before the commencement of the application process.

Undergraduate Courses

Lady Doak College offers various specializations in B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. and BBA courses at the undergraduate level. Candidates who have successfully completed their 10 + 2 studies from the CBSE / ICSE / other recognized board of education are eligible to apply for the undergraduate courses. Seats to undergraduate courses will be allotted on the basis of merit.

  • Selection is based purely on merit, subject to availability of seats.
  • Candidates must be at least 17-year of age to apply.
  • Some of the above courses and their respective specializations are aided courses whereas the others are self-financed courses.

Postgraduate Courses

At postgraduate level Lady Doak College offers M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. and MSW (Master of Social Work) courses. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate studies from a recognized university, within the respective course duration, are eligible to apply for a postgraduate course. Seats to all these courses will be allotted on the basis of merit. The merit list will be drawn up based on candidates’ performance in their previous academics.

  • Bachelor’s degree should be taught over a period of 3 or more years and candidate should have successfully completed it within this time.
  • Some of the above courses and their respective specializations are aided courses whereas the others are self financed courses.

Lady Doak College Facilities

Hostel

Hostel admission is valid only for ONE academic year at a time and its renewal is subject to the student abiding by rules, regulations and expectations of the college and hostel. Her academic progress is also taken into account. Fees will be levied towards establishment and medical service for the year at the commencement of the academic year. Payment should be made only through online. Hostel fees should be paid at the beginning of the academic year. Boarding fees will be collected in 3 installments [one at the commencement of the academic year / Odd Semester along with the hostel fees, Second, at the beginning of September and third, at the beginning of January]. All deposits will be adjusted at the end of the academic year for mess bill & dues if any, and the balance will be refunded.

Library

X. Miller Memorial Library holds to its credit 1,38,814 books, 106 print journals, newspapers & periodicals and 3828 e-journals. The library consists of a general library, twelve departmental libraries and resource centres on Women’s Studies and Christian Studies. Open Access System and special collections on Human Rights, Environmental Studies, International Studies, Interfaith Relations, Competitive Exams and Current Affairs are the hallmarks of J. X. Miller Library.
