About Us

DAV college Abohar, established in 1960 is a private institution affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. The college offers Undergraduate programs, which include B.Sc, B.Sc (Hons), BCA, B.Com, BA, BBA and BP.Ed courses for 3 Years duration as well as Postgraduate programs, which include M.Sc, M.Com and MA programs. The college has recently introduced a postgraduate diploma program, and three self-financing certificate programs. Admissions to all courses are done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. Graduates from the college are placed in top-recruiting companies such as Wipro, Infosys, and TCS, etc.

Admissions to the Undergraduate courses is done considering 10+2 marks and selection is done on merit basis. Admissions to the is done on the basis of performance in graduation. DAV College Abohar Placements

DAV has an active placement cell, under the supervision of a Training & Placement Officer and a committee of faculty members. The placement programme is spread over a three-month period, which gives the recruiting companies and the students’ adequate time to interact with each other. Activities conducted by the cell include campus recruitment programmes as well as summer training programmes.

The top companies that pick up and recruit students from DAV include WIPRO, TCS, Infosys, and Jio. In the three placement drives conducted in the academic year 2018-19, a total of 44 students were recruited by these companies.

In the last academic year, 418 students got scholarships from the institution, while 316 students availed of the scholarships from the government. In addition, 119 students received financial support from other sources.

DAV College Abohar Facilities

Some of the facilities provided by the college include:

Library: The library contains a total of 72298 books, 25 journals, and more than 31,35,000 e-books.
Internet: The college has internet facility for faculty as well as students and has established UGC NETWORK RESOURCE CENTER for this purpose.
Hostel facilities are also provided for the college. Gymnasium, library and centralized broadband connection is made available in girls’ hostels.

DAV College Abohar Faculty

DAV college Abohar has a total of 45 permanent teaching faculty members, out of whom 17 members are qualified with a Ph.D. These include 28 assistant professors and 17 associate professors. In addition, there are 69 temporary teaching faculty members. Seven faculty members are also involved in curriculum restructuring, revision, and syllabus development as members of Board of Study.

The quality of the teaching learning process reflects in the results of the students who bring laurels to the institute by scoring top positions in the University Merit Lists. Generally the top 3 positions and especially the 1st rank of Punjab University is held by a student of DAV. The college has also been focussing on getting more and more students placed in reputed organizations.
