
The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar is considered one of the premier technology institutes in North India. It was established in 1960 as Regional Engineering College and is one among eighteen such institutes sponsored by the Government of India. The REC was converted into a fully autonomous NIT in August 2003 and an institute of national importance for pursuing education, training and research in Engineering and Science.

The placement percentage for the class of 2023 stood at 108.38%. A total of 724 job offers were rolled out. The highest package offered was INR 36.50 LPA. The NIT Srinagar average package (highest) and median package stood at INR 13.80 LPA and INR 10.48 LPA, respectively.
