Shri G.S. Institute of Technology and Science
Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore was established in 1952. SGSITS is recognized as a leading institute in the state of Madhya Pradesh and the western region consistently during its glorious journey of seventy years. It has been ranked in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) on a national level (including IITs and NITs) by MHRD. Further looking at its credentials, the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi, declared the institute as autonomous in 1989. Under the autonomous state, the institute is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (University of Technology of M.P.) Bhopal.
Presently, the institute offers thirteen UG courses (Regular) and twenty-seven PG courses with specializations in various disciplines under the emerging areas of Engineering, Technology, Applied Sciences, Computer Applications, Management & Pharmacy including courses for working professionals.
Apart from spacious classrooms and well-equipped laboratories, the campus of the institute encompasses four boys’ hostels, three girls’ hostels, one transit hostel, and 44 faculty quarters. The institute has a central library which has a vast collection of books, a reference library, and a large number of subscribed online and print journals. In addition, the institute also houses various amenities such as a Playground, Gymnasium, Indoor Sports Complex, Guest House, a branch of Punjab National Bank, a branch of the Institution of Engineers, Xerox and General Stores, a Canteen, Dinning Hall, an Auditorium, a Ladies Common Room, Dispensary and office of SGSITS Alumni Association.

Student Activities
The Institute has a rich tradition of hosting a number of cultural, techno-cultural, and literary events. Every year the Institute organizes cultural events for the students in both semesters. Apart from this, there are a large number of hobby clubs which conduct their activities throughout the year.
The academic session starts with a fresher’s day “Aavahan”. This program is exclusively designed for the fresh students joining the Institute. In this program, the freshers get an opportunity to be introduced to the Director of the Institute and Deans, along with the Professor In charge of cultural and literary affairs. The students listen to the orientation lectures of the Director, Dean of Student Welfare, Dean of Academics, and Professor I/c Cultural and Literary Affairs. A cultural program is organized on this occasion. This program generally includes various events of music, drama, compeering, and inter-branch competition.
In the next semester, the Institute hosts a Techno-Cultural event “Aayaam”. This program hosts a large number of events. Nearly 1500-2000 students take part in this event.
The program begins with the “Gold Medal Award Ceremony”. This prestigious ceremony is held to honor the meritorious students of the Institute. In all 10 Gold Medals (K.G. Seksaria Medals) are conferred to ten toppers of the different branches of Engineering and Pharmacy. Apart from this the Institute also confers about 8 to 10 gold and silver medals and certificates Instituted by various individuals and organizations. After the conclusion of the gold medal award ceremony, the other program spanning up to 3 days begins. The major programs included in Aayaam are open movie theatre, nukkad natak, robotics competition, programming competition, bridge design competition, health camp and blood donation camp, circuit design competition, student paper presentations, art exhibition, rangoli competition, marathon, food stalls and games, and cultural program of the students.
Apart from this, the Institute has a large number of student hobby clubs. A few of them are listed below:

Computer Center
The Computer Center is an important component of the institute. The Computer Centre has two well-equipped labs with state-of-the-art computers. It provides computing facilities to all the 1st year students (B.Tech) for their programming-related practical work and Internet surfing. As a sufficient number of computers is available, students get enough time and opportunity to practice and strengthen their programming skills.
Facilities are also used for the conduction of programming labs for students of higher classes of various branches; Also online tests for various companies that come to the institute for recruitment are conducted here. Computer Center also facilitates online registration, exam form filling, etc. Additionally, the Computer Centre has also been offering services to various departments of the institute in the maintenance of their computer systems and peripherals.
The department also conducts various workshops for computer literacy and DTP for class III & IV employees of the Institute. Additionally, skill development courses under MMKVY/MMKSY are also conducted at this facility for serving society. The computer center is currently being used by the government of M.P. as the COVID control center.
These clubs host a number of events during the year and provide an opportunity for the students to pursue their hobbies.
Central Workshop
Central Workshop is the biggest workshop among the engineering colleges situated in MP having all-around facilities for student learning and for developing their Projects of varying fields with a well-trained team of around 20 staff having proficiency in different fields.
In the Central Workshop, various facilities are available for all BE Ist year and IInd year, IIIrd year, IVrth year Industrial and Production Engg. And Mechanical Engg. Student and ME student of IEM, CIM, and CAD-CAM for research work.

6. Foundry Shop
Various molding machines and furnaces are available:
Shell Moulding, Co2 Moulding, Vacuum Moulding, Sand Muller, Pit Furnace and Oil Fired Furnace.
About Central Library
The Central Library was established in 1955 with a small collection of 429 books. Currently, it earns the status of the biggest college library in central India in the field of technology and science education. It is fully flagged with good quality high-cost standard reference and textbooks, world-reputed International and National research journals, theses, project reports, audio/visual, and electronic learning resources in all disciplines of technical education. It also contains the literature of social sciences and humanities.
The central library has a separate three-floor building with a floor area of 2050 sq. Meters. It has six major separate sections for Administrative and Circulation operations, Textbook collection, Book-Bank collection, Reference collection, Journals, Theses and Reports Collection, and Computer section for digital resources.

Mission: The library inspires learning and discovery through print and electronic information resources, collaboration, and expertise for academic excellence and research activities.
Games and Sports
“Sport is the principle of competing against oneself, it’s about self-improvement, about being better than what we were the day before”.
Sports is like ballet dancing. It requires a lot of control, strength, mind play, and measured movements, it is a great way to de-stress and chill out after a hard day’s work.
Physical recreation through games and sports has always been an important part of the Institute since its inception. Games like Football, Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball, throw ball, Basketball, Netball, Chess, Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Athletics, Handball, carom, Lawn tennis, Yoga, Aerobics, weight training, weightlifting and Cycling are played in regular practice with great enthusiasm and sportsman spirit. Annual Sports Meet “Varchasva” (Inter-branch Tournaments) is organized every year for the promotion of Sports activities in students, interaction amongst various departments and to pick up sporting talents for the institute teams. The department also organized various Sports tournaments for Teaching & non-teaching Staff to build a harmonious atmosphere. The Institute organizes a Marathon Race every year to promote a give them Social massage.
The department was “Sports Nodal Centre of RGPV Bhopal” for the Indore region since the grouping of engineering College of the whole state into Nodal Zones by RGPV Bhopal and has organized many tournaments at intercollegiate nodal Level and State level and that tradition is continued every year until now. Since 1960, Our players have glorified the name of SGSITS by winning several awards, trophies, and shields at the National level, State level, and national level. The distinguished players of our Institute have been selected at the University level, State level & National level. Our students have also brought laurels to the institute in many national tournaments organized by IIT Kanpur, IIT Indore, NIT Surat, BITS Goa LNMIT, Jaipur etc. The Institute is an Institutional member of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. The Institute has been affiliated to Indore Division Cricket Association.
